Hi my name is Raul Carrillo. I am an artist from Long Beach, Ca. All my art is charcoal/graphite portraits on wood. I first tried drawing portraits on wood just to see if it was possible to achieve smooth blends like on paper, and I soon did after some artists doubted me. After completing a couple of portraits of my nephew and niece, people started contacting me to submit orders. I soon was busy enough to quit my full-time job and chase my dreams as an artist. Painting “The Bronze Peak” Description:
The multiple waves of shades of this piece were inspired by Native American mandala, used to uncover the deeper meanings of our hearts, and assists in observing our motivations in life in connection with the grander scale of the universe. We forget that we are an essential piece of the universe – of the whole – and that without us, the whole is incomplete. This thought inspired me to paint in many layers including a 'peak’ of Bronze. This 'Bronze Peak’ represents the many talents and things that we do not see at the surface of our whole but is the very thing that makes us unique.
