My name is Shih Yun Yeo, a Singaporean artist living and working in Singapore. Ever since the inception of my artistic career, I have been enchanted with the flexibility and unpredictability of Chinese ink, as well as the loose and expressive brush strokes of Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and the like. Hence, in my works, I always strive to harmonise the traditional medium with the contemporary nature of the stylistic expression by diversifying my approaches. At times, I combine painting with screen printing techniques; other times, I employ robotic devices into the process and further removes the element of control in favour of chance in the making of unique marks and textures. Each of my works carries a unique air of old and new, as a result of the natural conditions of gravity, stimulated by creativity.
