Dear Tumblr,
Over the past 9 years we’ve had the pleasure of showcasing some of the best Art on Tumblr.
During this time, Art that EatSleepDraw published occasionally ended up on the Tumblr radar. Having work posted to the radar, recognized the artist, helped boost the amount of EatSleepDraw submissions, and our community of artists.
This has changed over the past year or so. EatSleepDraw has not been featured on the radar, but many pieces that we have posted have appeared there (usually several days after we published it first, please see above examples). It is great for an individual artist, but not for a community of artists. Having the radar link back to EatSleepDraw allowed anyone who clicked to not only discover the solo artist, but thousands of extremely talented people.
No doubt we are grateful for everything Tumblr has done for us. We were nominated for a Shorty Award, you’ve helped throw us a 5th birthday party, you featured us on a list of Lifetime Achievements on Tumblr. But you recently announced an “official hub for all things art on Tumblr”, which operates exactly the same way as EatSleepDraw.
We’ve been open to working with Tumblr since day one. Heck, we even live in NYC, and have wanted to meet about this. (see below screenshot, from 3 years ago!)
So Tumblr, please give us a reason to keep EatSleepDraw on Tumblr.
