Q:Is the timber used in the pencil box harvested sustainably? I'd hate to see any kind of natural ecosystem being logged for something as trivial as a pencil holder. Or do you guys even know where it's sourced from?

Excellent question.
The Pencil Pod is made from Eastern White Pine.
Yes, the wood is harvested sustainably which means it does not come from an old growth forest.
The goal was to create the worlds best pencil case and have it 100% made in America.
But more importantly, I just wanted to work on a project with my Dad.
My Dad’s been a woodworker for the past 17 years and is a member of both the Woodworkers Guild of Rhode Island and the Ocean State Artisans.
His specialty is handcrafted jewelry boxes and keepsake boxes. So when I approached him with the idea of helping create the world’s best pencil case, he was very excited. Please feel free to check out his work on Etsy.
