Kinda bummed I’ll be missing Stephin Merritt at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery! What a perfect place it’d be to see him perform. I nearly started crying when I figured I’m too broke to attend…
So I sucked it up and did the next best thing- fired up my favorite solo Stephin, Magnetic Fields, Gothic Archies, The 6ths, Future Bible Heroes songs for a couple days and banged out this little tribute piece to Stephin and one of my favorite cartoons as a child- Tex Avery’sDroopy! I always thought Droopy & Stephin looked sorta similar! :)
I also watched a great doc on Stephin called Strange Powers that kept me company whilst coloring too! You should check it out if you haven’t seen it yet!
